what is going on with our teachers?

i was shocked last night when i heard a story on the news about a 5 year old autistic boy who was "voted out of his class"! apparently due to the child's autism he had some behavioral issues in class. because of this, the teacher put the kindergartner in front of his classmates and asked the kids to tell the boy what they didn't like about him. then she had the class vote on whether or not the boy should stay in the classroom. no child or person for that matter should be treated in such a way. read the whole story here.

i awoke this morning to yet another story of a 5 year old who was being verbally abused by his teacher. the young boy complained to his parents and the parents had their son take a tape recorder into the classroom so the teacher could be recorded. on the recording the teacher is caught calling the child "pathetic". what kind of person would call a 5 year old pathetic? click here to read this article.

how can we stop this from happening again?

That's so awful!! Shame on those teachers....and shame on the school boards who let them get away with that kind of stuff. Kids are so influenced by their teachers and they remember them and many of the things they say and do for years to come. They have such an opportunity to make a profound impact in such a positive way. So sad that these teachers are blowing their opportunity and wounding the spirits of their precious students. =(
