when life hands you disappointments, where do you turn?

every morning i try to take a walk before it gets too hot. usually it's around 5:30AM. it's a beautiful time of morning when the sun is just coming up over the mountains. i look to them as if i'm looking at God in the heavens. for me, it's a time to pray and worship first thing in the morning. often times it's very emotional for me and i've found myself crying as i walk! i love this time in the morning with the Lord. friday morning as i was walking i heard God clearly tell me to lift up my head...to look toward heaven. i am a child of the King and my head should be held high! that was so powerful to me. friday evening i was faced with a major disappointment and even through the grief and pain i remembered what God had told me that morning...i needed to lift my head and look to Him...He is the only one who can carry me through a rough time. there is a song by Yolanda Adams called "Still I Rise". it's a beautiful song with powerful words of encouragement. when we are faced with struggles, we can still rise above it all with God's help.

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help?
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and Earth."
~Psalm 121

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
~ Romans 8:28

"But He knows the way I take; When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold."
~ Job 23:10

Jamie,
That was a beautiful post. It reminded me of my days in AZ and how I cried out to God many times too. The mountains are gorgeous and you can't help but think about the Creator. I am praying for you and pray you will be encouraged very, very soon!
Much love,
Your sister in Christ

Thanks for the reminder, Jamie. It's good to remember that we are daughters of the King and He has THE BEST in store for us.....even when it doesn't seem like it's "the best" to our human minds. Everything He does is for our good and for His glory. I try to remind myself of that often.

P.S. And how awesome that you take a walk every morning! That would be a good habit to have. Too bad I'm always running late and would never have time for a walk before going to work!! The joys of not being a morning person...
